Includes royal cedulas, communications to and from the Viceroy of New Spain, the Count of Monterrey, etc. Because of the Franciscan presence in New Mexico, the Viceroy kept the Discalced Carmelites in Mexico, but eventually allowed them to send friars with Sebastian Vizcaino's 2nd voyage to California in 1602.
